To express gratitude for the blessings and protection of Emperor Guan, local residents of Daxi voluntarily hold a birthday celebration procession on the 24th day of the sixth lunar month in the traditional calendar.

During the festival period, the entire town comes alive in celebration. People of all ages, regardless of gender, take part with devotion and sincerity. The significance of this event is often described as Daxi’s “second Lunar New Year.”

Each year, on the 23rd and 24th days of the sixth lunar month, community associations across Daxi gather in the historic town center. Featuring Beiguan music ensembles, child performers, deity figure troupes, dragon dances, lion dances, and a wide variety of traditional procession groups, the two-day celebration transforms Daxi into a vibrant, sleepless festival town.
