Local residents of Daxi hold a self-initiated birthday procession to thank Lord Guan Sheng Dijun for his protection every year on the 24th day of the 6th lunar month, the deity’s birthday. The entire town celebrates with great enthusiasm, with people of all ages participating devoutly. The event is considered as important as a “second Lunar New Year” for the people of Daxi.

On June 23rd and 24th each year, various traditional groups from all over Daxi— including Beiguan music troupes, child performers, generals, dragon and lion dancers—gather for a two-day grand procession. During this time, Daxi transforms into a vibrant city that never sleeps.
