Opening Ceremony & Grand Performance | REVIVAL: Echoes That Never Fade

The theme of the 2026 Daxi Daxi Festival REVIVAL is "Echoes That Never Fade," celebrating Daxi's distinctive festive music traditions. Visitors are invited to explore the historic town and immerse themselves in the vibrant sounds of Beiguan music, ceremonial percussion, and Western marching bands. From the collective participation of century-old community associations to the relay of traditional performance troupes, Daxi transforms into a grand open-air stage, where familiar rhythms and festive melodies bring to life what locals proudly call their "second Lunar New Year."

The Opening Ceremony brings together local community associations, traditional performance troupes, and participants from Beiguan heritage programs to launch the festival with an inspiring celebration of music. Through collaborative performances and the powerful resonance of ceremonial sounds, the event showcases over a century of cultural heritage while reflecting the passion, unity, and intergenerational spirit that continue to shape Daxi's celebrations. Following the ceremony, the Grand Procession Music Performance will feature three signature musical traditions of Daxi's celebrations: Beiguan music, ceremonial percussion, and Western marching bands. The performances will connect several iconic locations across town, including the Covered Basketball Court at Daxi Sports Park, Heping Old Street, Furen Temple, and Puji Temple, creating a music festival that spans the entire historic district.

Community members from all walks of life will come together to present a spectacular series of traditional performances, including the Leading Drum, Beiguan ensembles, Dragon Drums, Hongtian Drums, Lion Drums, and Western marching bands. These performances offer blessings to Emperor Guan while giving visitors a close-up experience of the energy and excitement that define Daxi's annual celebrations.

Led by the ceremonial festival banner and the powerful Leading Drum, audiences are invited to follow the procession through Daxi's streets, experiencing the performances as they unfold throughout the town.
