Procession Experience | Follow the Procession: Four Journeys with the Community Associations

The 24th day of the Sixth Lunar Month is one of the most important days of the year for the people of Daxi.

On this day, the town transforms into a vibrant stage of living tradition. Historic streets, temple forecourts, offering tables, drums, palanquins, Beiguan music, deity figures, dragon dances, and community associations come together in Daxi's grandest annual celebration honoring Emperor Guan. Many local residents who work in different professions throughout the year return home to join their community associations, celebrating the deity's birthday while carrying on generations of local tradition.

Follow the Procession: Four Journeys with the Community Associations offers four themed guided experiences, each following a different part of the festival procession. From the early morning palanquin procession and the resonant sounds of Beiguan, to the majestic deity figures in the afternoon and illuminated dragon performances after sunset, participants will experience the festival from within rather than from the sidelines.

Each route is led by both a cultural expert and experienced members of the participating community association, offering historical insights alongside first-hand festival experiences. Walk with the procession, listen to the stories behind every ritual, and discover how the people of Daxi express their faith through music, movement, and community.

This is not simply a cultural performance to observe—it is an invitation to walk alongside the gods, the community associations, and the people of Daxi.
